How to Diet to Lose Weight in 3 Days

If you have a big event coming up, such as a formal dance, wedding or date, you may try to lose a few pounds in an attempt to look and feel your best. This weight loss may not be apparent to others around you, but it may make you feel more comfortable and self-confident. If there are only a few days left until the big event, you won't have much time to shed a few pounds with exercise, but there are a few techniques you can use to flush out water weight in your system.

Instructions

    1

Drink plenty of filtered or spring water that is free of salt. Drinking water may help speed up digestion and push your food through your stomach more quickly. It will also keep you hydrated and urinating, to prevent excess storage of water in your body. Not drinking enough water leads to your body "hoarding" water. Aim for at least eight 8-oz. glasses of water per day.

    2

Avoid carbohydrates. If you can cut the carbs you eat for the next three days down to very few, you may lose a good deal of weight. This is because every pound of carbohydrates in your body contains 3 to 5 lbs. of water, and burning off those carbs helps get rid of excess water.

    3

Cut your salt intake. Sodium in the body absorbs water, which can slow the process of your body expelling the water. It is difficult to completely avoid sodium in food, but try to limit it to about 1,500mg or less per day.

    4

Take a jog or extended walk every day for the next three days. This isn't so much to burn calories as it is to rid your body of the excess carbohydrates and salt in your body. Walking and jogging will burn the extra carbohydrates, which in turn will remove the water weight. Sweating out the excess sodium will help reduce water retention as well.
