How to Lose Fat on Stomach with Exercise

You can lose fat on stomach if you do the right exercises. Regular exercise can firm, sculpt, and tone the abdominal area. But that's only half of the solution for getting rid of love handles. It's also important to have a nutritional diet. Exercise alone will add muscle tone, but all of this will be buried underneath a layer of fat. The only way to get rid of fat is by eating less.

    Establish an exercise routine. Try to do your exercise routine 5 times a week. If not, do them at least 3 days out of the week. Start out with exercises that you are comfortable doing. This will increase your chances of sticking to your program, which will improve your chances for success. Change up your routine at last once a month.

    Lose fat on stomach and tone your abdominal muscles by giving your rectus abdominus a workout. The rectus abdominus is the main part of your abdominal area, which extends from the lower ribs to the pelvis. You can exercise your rectus abdominus by doing forward motion movements, or side bends. One way to do this is by doing abdominal crunches while sitting on top of an exercise ball. Place your feet on the floor and sit down on the exercise ball. The pressure from your body will cause the ball to move slightly back. Then rest your back on the ball until your trunk and thighs are positioned parallel to the floor. Tighten your abdominal muscles as you raise the upper portion of your body to a 45 degree angle. Do about 10 repetitions of this exercise.

    Strengthen your rectus abdominus, and internal and external obliques by doing crossover crunches. The external obliques are side muscles that extend diagonally down from the lower rib section to the pelvic area. They form the letter V. The internal obliques are right below the external obliques. Both sets of muscles are in use when you rotate the trunk of your body. To do crossover crunches, place a mat on the floor. Bend your knees and position your feet flat on the floor. Put the tips of your fingers behind your ears, along the side of your head. Tighten your stomach muscles, and gradually twist your upper body until your left elbow meets your right knee. Exhale as you raise your body. Then gradually lower your body, while exhaling.

    Eat a nutritional diet. Eat fewer calories to lose fat. Your diet should include plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Drink lots of water. Snack on nutritional, low calorie foods. A good diet is important in order to lose fat on stomach.
