When it comes to blood type diet plans, type B's have a definite advantage. Due primarily to their ability to break down fats, carbohydrates and animal proteins with relative ease, type B's are given a more varied menu than other blood groups. Not only do they get more food to choose from, but type B's possess a naturally higher metabolic rate, which means they have to do less exercise to maintain a trim figure.
Beneficial Foods
Meats that will help those in the type B blood group include rabbit, venison, lamb and mutton. If you'd rather have seafood, choose deep-sea fish such as cod, salmon or halibut. Beneficial grains include oatmeal, puffed rice and millet, while favorable bread products are limited to brown bread and rice cakes. The best choices from the produce department include green, leafy vegetables such as spinach and tropical fruits such as bananas, papayas and pineapple. One of the best things about being a 'B' is the number of beneficial diary products you get to choose from. Feel free to enjoy cottage cheese, mozzarella cheese, yogurt and milk as often as you like. Unfortunately, the only oil that is beneficial to the type B diet is extra-virgin olive oil, which can be expensive.
Allowed
While not particularly advantageous, the following meats are not considered harmful for type B's: beef, turkey and veal. Additionally, type B's can indulge in any sort of seafood, grain, bread product, fruit, vegetable, or dairy product that is not specifically forbidden.
Not Allowed
Chicken is not allowed because it contains lectins, which interfere with the type B insulin efficiency. Also, certain varieties of seafood can be difficult for a type B to properly digest. These include all types of shellfish, anchovies, bass, lox, eel, yellow tail, snails, octopus and beluga caviar. While type B's can tolerate most dairy foods, they should avoid ingesting American cheese, blue cheese and ice cream. Type B's are advised to avoid nuts, seeds and beans, as they slow the metabolic rate and can lead to weight gain. A slower metabolism and feelings of fatigue can also be the result of eating products made from wheat or corn, such as bread, cereal or noodles; therefore, these products are also prohibited. Tomatoes should be completely removed from the type B diet plan, as they contain chemicals that inflame the lining of the stomach. Olives can initiate an allergic reaction, while rhubarb, star fruit and pomegranate can leave type B's with an upset stomach.
Exercise
In addition to following the diet, type B's are encouraged to take steps to ensure their good health by engaging in regular light exercise, such as walking, and finding healthy outlets for their abundant creative energy.
