Food & Drink to Burn Belly Fat

Food & Drink to Burn Belly Fat

Dieters and weight loss enthusiasts seek foods and drinks that burn belly fat. Foods rich with proteins or citric acids help combat the fats in the diet by burning them more efficiently than other food types like carbohydrates or sweets. Drinks with these features are helpful too. Citric acid heavy drinks or protein shakes play a large part. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Proteins

High protein foods like meat, eggs, soy and beans are large fat burners. All of these foods contain Omega 3 fatty acids, which burn fat while promoting good health. When looking at cuts of meat however, it is important to buy "lean" cuts as often as possible. The leaner the cut, the less fat in the meat, and the more body fat it will be able to burn. When eating beans, stay away from re-fried or baked beans, as they are often injected with fatty additives or stripped of nutrients from overcooking.

Dairy

Dairy products can help burn fat, though the reasons are not always clear. Research by Purdue University and Obesity Research magazine showed that dieters who consume three servings of fat-free milk or low-fat servings of yogurt or cheese can lose up to 70 percent more fat than dieters who decide to cut out dairy altogether. The foremost theory on this weight loss is that dairy products, despite being seen as fatty foods, actually break down fat at much higher rate than they build fat cells.

Citrus Fruits

Foods or drinks with high levels of citric acid, like oranges or orange juice, jump start the fat burning process by introducing a boosted level of amino acids into the bloodstream. These amino acids break down and burn fat quicker than any other substance in the body. Apples can also play a big part in the belly fat battle as they contain pectin, which stops the cells from absorbing fat in the first place and promote the absorption of water instead.
