For those suffering from acid reflux disease, meal planning can sometimes be a difficult task. Fortunately, there are many foods that have been deemed safe to eat for those with this disease; these particular foods seem to cause the least discomfort.
Meats
When it comes to a choice of meat, chicken, steak and lean ground beef all top the list. The best way to prepare them is in the broiler or on the grill. This will effectively reduce the amount of grease ingested during the meal.
Breads and Cereals
Most breads and cereals do not cause acid reflux. Foods such as pretzels, fat free cookies soda crackers and graham crackers are suitable as well.
Fruits and Vegetables
Fruits and vegetables are highly recommended. However, those containing a high acid content should be avoided. This includes most citrus fruits and tomatoes.
Water
Water is very beneficial to those who suffer from acid reflux disease.
Prevention/Solution
For the best results, eat at least two hours before bedtime and take a short walk after your evening meal.
